FAQs

Lash extensions basics

•  The eyelashes can take up to 1 hour 30 mins to apply.

•  No, it doesn’t hurt at all. Most of our clients fall asleep during the process.

•  With our new and improved adhesive formula, you can get your lashes wet right away! However, we recommend keeping them dry for 8 hours for the best result.

•  Our faux mink lashes hold their curl even during the hottest summer weather. They are a natural matte black color. They do not look plastic like other brands.

•  If looked after properly, they can last for weeks.

•  Lash extensions prices at Lash Art- Houston's Lash Artists start from $99 for a classic look, refills prices are cheaper.

•  We specialize in Volume lashes and most of our clients have the Volume Lashes. It is an advanced technique and a special type of soft lashes.

•  The extensions fall out naturally over time (because that’s what your natural eyelashes do). But if you want them removed, do NOT do it yourself – get them removed by a flash professional. The process is quick, easy & painless.

•  You won’t feel the need to wear mascara, but you can if you’re feeling extra. Just be careful when removing your makeup – use an oil-free makeup remover, and rub very gently. Stick to oil-free products because the oil will break-down the glue.

•  You don’t have to have a break in between applications. And you can have little top ups if you’re in the market for that sort of thing.

•  In the state of Texas, it is required for the lash stylist to be licensed. All of our stylists are licensed and are advanced certified.

Frequently Asked Questions about Eyelash Extensions

What Are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent eyelash extensions made of individual synthetic eyelashes that are curved to mimic a natural eyelash. They are applied on to individual eyelashes, one by one, for a natural, elegant look to lengthen and add fullness to the existing lashes. Eyelash Extensions are for professional application only. Self-application and application by untrained individuals are strongly discouraged.

What are Eyelash Extensions made out of?

Lash Art’s Eyelash Extensions are crafted from synthetic polyester, the result is natural and lightweight Faux Mink Lashes. They respond well to wear and tear. In addition, synthetics have the least possible chance of allergic reactions with human skin.

What do they look like and how do they feel?

With proper application, Eyelash Extensions look and feel completely real. Each application is customized to suit the individual. We offer a variety of thicknesses of lashes and different curls. Varying individual synthetic lash lengths are chosen to carefully replicate the shape and frame of a natural lash line. The thickness of Eyelash Extensions applied is determined by the health and thickness of your natural lashes as well as personal preference. The overall effect is added curl, thickness, and length, opening up the eye for added definition.

Eyelash Extensions are designed to be indistinguishable in size and weight to human lashes. They are flexible yet crimp-resistant, and they move with your natural lashes. As long as you keep up with the touch-up applications, it is hard for others to tell that you are wearing the extensions.

Please feel free to review our client testimonials and before/after pictures for additional information on the look and feel of Eyelash Extensions.

What are the benefits of wearing Eyelash Extensions?

Most women choose Eyelash Extensions to lengthen their natural lashes while others want their lashes to look fuller. A number of women with naturally light colored lashes choose Eyelash Extensions to darken their existing lashes. Eyelash Extensions can create a younger appearance on many clients. Several consumers who were contemplating having work done on their faces have informed us that they no longer feel the need as a result of wearing Eyelash Extensions. Eyelash Extensions create the appearance of a brighter, more open and rested eye, thereby creating a more youthful and rejuvenated look.

Above all, the main advantage of Eyelash Extensions is how much time you can save during your beauty regimen. Eyelash Extensions allow you to spend less time with makeup; mascara is certainly no longer necessary. Because our lashes are bigger at the base, they create the same effect as eyeliner so that step can be avoided as well. Overall, Eyelash Extensions will give you the appearance of having put significant effort into your eye makeup when, in reality, you spent no time at all. No application of eye makeup and no need for removal at the end of the day. The added benefit is that they look beautiful morning and night, all day, every day. Say goodbye to the application of mascara, stained tears and mascara raccoon masks around the eyes. You can look and feel gorgeous from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep with little to no effort.

How long do Eyelash Extensions Last?

The look can be maintained indefinitely with refills.

Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles (every 60 to 90 days). When a natural lash matures and falls out, a new lash has already been growing and quickly replaces it without us noticing the turnover. This process is constant and at any given moment our many natural lashes are at different stages of maturity. Some are just growing in, while others are ready to shed. People typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes each day, depending on their individual growth cycles. On shorter natural lashes, this growing and shedding cycle is virtually unnoticeable.

When eyelashes are extended with Eyelash Extensions, it will be more noticeable when these lashes shed because they are longer and darker than natural lashes. Please keep in mind this is a perfectly normal occurrence, with or without extensions. Lash Stylists will apply for Eyelash Extensions primarily to those lashes that are in the middle of their maturation cycle to maximum the amount of time they will last, without jeopardizing the health of ‘baby' lashes. The lash will fall out with the natural lash it is attached to when it reaches the end of its growth cycle. A few lashes may shed within the first week because the attached natural lashes are at the end of their growth cycle. Most will remain in place until the end of their cycle.

With proper care and maintenance, touch-ups are typically only needed once every 2 to 4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed. Your Stylist will add extensions to the newest mature natural lashes to maintain a full, lush appearance.

How long does the procedure take?

Depending on the expertise and experience of the Lash Stylist and the number of lashes being applied, it generally takes between 90 to 120 minutes to apply a full set of Eyelash Extensions. Touch-ups can be done in as little as 50 to 75 minutes.

Can you describe the application process?

You will be comfortably reclined with your eyes closed while Eyelash Extensions are applied one at a time to your own natural eyelashes. There is no discomfort or pain involved in the procedure. Our adhesive is not fumey and does not cause burning, red-eyes, watering eyes ( Please advise your Stylist if you have really sensitive eyes). Most of our clients find our service so relaxing and comfortable that they fall asleep.

I have no lashes at all, can I wear Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions?

Because Eyelash Extensions are applied to existing natural lashes you must have some natural lashes to receive the procedure. Eyelash Extensions should not, and in many cases cannot be applied to clients who have alopecia, are undergoing chemotherapy or those who suffer from Trichotillomania, unless and until the individual has received effective treatment and normal lash growth has resumed.

Can I apply Eyelash Extensions to my own eyelashes?

No. Only a trained professional will be able to safely apply for Eyelash Extensions. Unprofessional application or self-application may cause eye injury, lash damage or unnatural looking lashes. Eyelash Extensions are applied one lash at a time to your individual natural eyelashes to achieve long, thick and natural looking eyelashes. The procedure involves bonding the synthetic extension to your own natural eyelashes and should be performed only by professionally trained Lash Stylists only.

How much does it cost for an application of Eyelash Extensions?

The major investment in Eyelash Extensions consists of the initial full set, typically between 70 and 120 lashes per eye. Quality and professional work can run anywhere from $99 to $350, depending on how many lashes are applied, the skill level of the Lash Stylist and in what part of the country you are located. The application of Eyelash Extensions is an art form, and just as with hair styling and cutting, it can cost a bit more to have your lashes styled by the best. Once the initial set has been completed, touch-ups are nominal by beauty industry standards.

An Eyelash Extensions touch up application costs substantially less than the initial application, usually ranging from $59-$95. Given this, the cost of maintaining your eyelash extensions indefinitely is really quite comparable to the cost of fills on acrylic nails or highlighting your hair.

One note of caution: We hear countless stories of individuals who go to an untrained lash technician because the cost is low. They receive a substandard set of lashes that is clumpy, painful and often damaging to their lashes. A proper application of lashes is not painful during or after the procedure. Eyelash extension application is an exacting process that takes skill and time. If the cost is very cheap, you should certainly question the training of the technician as well as the quality of the product. These same individuals often end up seeking out our Stylists after they try the cheap alternatives. Ultimately, most have realized from experience that the old adage “you get what you pay for” is often true.

Where can I find a Licensed and Certified Eyelash Extensions Lash Stylist?

When looking for a trusted lash stylist. Pay attention to their qualification. Make sure they are licensed in the state that you live in. In today’s industry standards, licensed stylists farther their education with training courses that Certify them with newer and better techniques. However, a Certified stylist does not mean they are Licensed. When getting your lashes service, make sure you look at the stylist’s license, it must be displayed in clear view. A Certification is not the same as a License.

At Lash Art, all of our stylists are licensed in the state of Texas and have received extended training, therefore, we are certified in the most up to date techniques.
